Fall 2011-Spring 2012 OZARK PIECEMAKERS QUILT GUILD
SCHOLARSHIP
Our Mission:
To promote a fellowship of
those interested in the preservation and the sharing of the art of quilting.
Purpose:
To encourage community
awareness of quilting and related arts.
To share our knowledge of the
enjoyment of quilting.
To function as a 501C (3)
non-profit.
The
Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild was established in 1981 and has served the
community of Springfield and the surrounding areas of 29 years. We continue to
support: Bailey Alternative High School, Child Advocacy Center, Cox Hospital,
Festival of Sharing, Harmony House, Ronald McDonald House, Southwest Center for
Independent Living, St. John’s Hospital, The Kitchen, and Burn-out-Victims,
Fund Raisers, and other Miscellaneous recipients. Our Doll Quilt program makes
small quilts to give to Crosslines, which are distributed to children at
Christmas. We also provide educational programs on the art/history of quilting,
art quilts, wearable arts and fiber arts for the Library Center and local
schools by request.
The
Guild designs and constructs a donation quilt each year. The chances on these
quilts are purchased by the community. Part of the proceeds from this quilt
will be used to establish: The Ozark Piecemakers Quilt Guild
Scholarship.
To award a scholarship each
year to a design-related major attending a college or university in the greater
Ozark area. Students must meet all criteria guidelines.
It is our goal to assist some
deserving student with their education through our LOVE of quilting.
