Appliqué Groups

As The Needle Turns

On the 1st Saturday of every month, the OPQG appliqué group meets.  We average 35 members at these meetings. This group is designed for anyone interested in learning or improving their skills in applique. The skill levels of those attending this group range from beginner to advanced. Some members enjoy hand applique and others enjoy machine applique.

If you are new to our guild, this is a good group to join to meet friends and to learn appliqué techniques. We meet at the The Library Center.  Our meetings start at 10:30 am and we are generally finished by 1:00 pm.  Bring a bag lunch if you want to eat during the meeting.  Remember to bring something for show and tell each month (a finished or unfinished appliqué project or a good book you have found on the subject of appliqué). Either during or after our general meeting, we often have a mini-workshop or demonstration taught by one of our members.

We send email notices to our applique members regarding upcoming meetings, cancellations of meetings, our mini workshops and information about applique. If you are not on our email list and plan to attend one of our meetings, please call either Kathy Kansier or Helen Kroger first to make sure the meeting hasn't been canceled. If you have any further questions about our group, call Kathy Kansier (417-725-6502) or Helen Kroger (417-725-0341).

TURNING POINTS
(BEGINNING APPLIQUE GROUP)

This beginning appliqué group, subsequently named the Turning Points, was formed in May 2009 for anyone interested in learning appliqué, both hand and machine. We started with the very basics. The meetings are focused on teaching various techniques and applying them by practice.

The group selected a simple hand appliqué wall hanging as our first project.  Our second project will feature machine appliqué. Each member will select a pattern of their choosing and work at their own pace.

The members are at all different skill levels, from beginners to advance. We invite those more experienced in appliqué to join us and share your knowledge or just come for the camaraderie.

Meetings are held the first Wednesday of each month (unless notified otherwise) at 9:30 a.m. at 2738 S. Campbell in the Village Shopping Center.  Most days anyone who wants to can stay and spend the day working on projects.
